1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how RiseOps collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information in connection with RiseOps (the “Service”), a web-based software platform that helps freelancers and agencies discover, monitor, organize, and act on freelance job opportunities (including features such as feeds, search and filtering, saved items, alerts, notifications, account management, and related tools that may change over time).

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Service, and information we receive from third parties as described below.

2.1 Account and profile information

  • Name, email address, and other identifiers you provide when you register or update your account
  • Authentication credentials (for email/password sign-in, passwords are stored using industry-standard practices; we do not store plaintext passwords)
  • Profile details and preferences you choose to provide
  • Billing and payment-related information when you purchase a paid plan (payment card details are typically processed by our payment processor, not stored by us in full)

2.2 Service usage and content

  • Saved jobs, filters, labels, notes, or similar content you create in the Service
  • Settings such as notification preferences, alert rules, and display preferences
  • Communications you send to us (e.g., support requests)
  • Feedback or survey responses you voluntarily provide

2.3 OAuth and connected services

If you sign in or connect third-party accounts (for example, social login providers), we may receive identifiers, profile information, and tokens as permitted by that provider’s authorization flow and your settings.

3. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers where available, and general location derived from IP (e.g., city/region level)
  • Usage data: Pages or screens viewed, features used, timestamps, referring URLs, and diagnostic or performance data
  • Cookies and similar technologies: As described in Section 6

We use this information to operate, secure, improve, and analyze the Service, and to communicate with you as described in this policy.

4. How We Use Information

We use personal information for purposes that include:

  • Providing, maintaining, securing, and improving the Service
  • Creating and managing your account and authenticating you
  • Processing subscriptions, payments, and related transactions (through our processors)
  • Delivering product emails, transactional messages, and (where permitted) marketing or promotional communications
  • Sending alerts, notifications, and in-product messages you configure or that relate to the Service
  • Personalizing your experience and developing new features
  • Detecting, preventing, and addressing fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues
  • Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our terms and policies
  • Aggregating or de-identifying information where permitted by law

We do not use your personal information to train generalized public AI models solely from this policy’s permissions unless we notify you separately and, where required, obtain consent.

5. Legal Bases (Where Applicable)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions that require a “legal basis,” we rely on one or more of the following, as appropriate:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to perform our agreement with you (e.g., providing the Service you requested)
  • Legitimate interests: Operating and improving the Service, security, fraud prevention, and internal analytics, balanced against your rights
  • Consent: Where we ask for consent (e.g., certain cookies or marketing), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing
  • Legal obligation: Where we must comply with applicable law

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in and remember preferences
  • Understand how the Service is used and measure performance
  • Support security and fraud prevention
  • Deliver or measure the effectiveness of communications

You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may limit functionality. Where required, we will obtain consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

7. Third-Party Services and Processors

We use third-party services to host infrastructure, authenticate users, process payments, send email, provide analytics, deliver notifications (including channels such as messaging platforms—for example, Telegram—where you opt in or configure them), and perform similar functions. These providers process personal information on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions, subject to their own privacy practices.

Examples of categories of providers (actual vendors may change over time):

  • Cloud infrastructure and database (e.g., hosted backend and storage providers)
  • Payment processing (e.g., Stripe or comparable services)
  • Email delivery and transactional messaging
  • Analytics and product instrumentation
  • Authentication and OAuth providers
  • Customer support or ticketing tools

We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense of selling data for money. We may allow certain partners to process data as service providers or as described in Section 8. If we engage in activities that constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under U.S. state privacy laws, we will provide applicable notices and choices as required by law.

8. Data Sharing and Disclosures

We may disclose personal information:

  • To service providers and subprocessors who assist us in operating the Service, subject to contractual protections where appropriate
  • For legal reasons: If we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of us, our users, or others
  • In connection with business transfers: Such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards
  • With your direction or consent: Including integrations you enable

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for analytics, research, or business purposes.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Service, and as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and legal requirements. When retention is no longer required, we will delete or de-identify information in accordance with our practices and applicable law.

10. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity under your account.

11. International Transfers

If you access the Service from outside the country where we or our processors operate, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) for cross-border transfers.

12. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include:

  • Access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • Restriction or objection to certain processing
  • Data portability in a structured, commonly used format where applicable
  • Withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent
  • Opt-out of certain marketing communications (you may use unsubscribe links or contact us)
  • Appeal or complaint rights under some U.S. state laws

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@riseops.net. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction, where applicable.

13. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on the Service and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, by email or in-product notice). Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy, except where applicable law requires a different form of consent.
